Ehsan Baharlou is invited as a guest speaker in Hi-DARS lab’s TALK SERIES
Hi-DARS lab’s TALK SERIES
We are excited to welcome Dr. Ehsan Baharlou, Assistant Professor of Architecture, Advanced Technologies, at the University of Virginia, and Director of CT lab, as a guest speaker for the Hi-DARS talk series at Texas Tech University’s Huckabee College of Architecture this Fall 2024 semester. Dr. Baharlou’s work focuses on ecological construction and innovative responses to climate change, with a strong emphasis on sustainable materials, robotic construction, and the integration of digital and physical design processes. His cutting-edge research explores new ways to blend design computation with advanced manufacturing, creating a bridge between fabrication-centered and multispecies design.
Dr. Baharlou’s extensive research includes bioprinting with mycelium to create living architecture, embedding greenery in 3D-printed soil, and upcycling plastics for sustainable construction. His career spans teaching at leading institutions, such as MIT and the University of Stuttgart, and his projects have focused on robotic fabrication, mobile additive manufacturing, and composite systems. With a doctoral degree under Professor Achim Menges and postdoctoral work at MIT, Dr. Baharlou is at the forefront of integrating computational models with real-world fabrication challenges to drive innovation in sustainable architecture.
*This lecture is both online and in person.
